Quality coaching is key to a positive sport experience for participants. Bowls Canada Boulingrin recommends that all coaches become trained and certified in the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) to ensure that coaches have the tools and knowledge they need to work effectively.<\/p>\n<h3>Bowls Canada NCCP<\/h3>\n<p>The NCCP, which launched in 1974 and is delivered in partnership with the government of Canada, provincial\/territorial governments, and national\/provincial\/territorial sport organizations, endorses national standards in coach education and certification. The NCCP is a training and certification program for coaches, offered across Canada in more than 65 sports. The program was designed to meet the needs of a wide range of coaches \u2013 from those who introduce beginners to sport to those who work with Canada\u2019s high performance athletes. The NCCP empowers coaches with knowledge and skills, promotes ethics, fosters positive attitudes, builds competence, and increases the credibility and recognition of coaches.<\/p>\n<p>Bowls Canada currently has two coaching programs that meet NCCP national standards: Bowls Club Coach and Bowls Competition Coach<\/p>\n<p>LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 are no longer offered by the NCCP partnership or by Bowls Canada. The Bowls Club Coach and Bowls Competition Coach programs replace the old Level 1 and Level 2.<\/p>\n<p>For more information <a href=\"https:\/\/bowlscanada.com\/en\/programs\/coaching.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Bowls Club Coach NCCP<\/h3>\n<h4>Purpose<\/h4>\n<p>Bowls Club Coach is designed to train coaches who will be working in a club environment with a wide range of beginner bowlers to introduce the basic skills of lawn bowls. Coaches can achieve a Bowls Club Coach status by completing the one-day workshop:<\/p>\n<h4>Workshop Outline<\/h4>\n<p>The goal of the workshop is to help prepare coaches to do some of the specific tasks required to introduce the sport to beginners within a club setting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting the Scene for Coaching (30 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Facility\/Equipment and Laws of the Game (45 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>History\/Hierarchy\/Terminology (30 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Making Ethical Decisions as a club coach (60 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Safety and Emergency Action Planning (45 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Teaching the Basic Skills 30 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Practice Coaching 1 \u2013 emphasis on organization and set up to accomplish a goal (60 minutes)<\/li>\n<li>Practice Coaching 2 \u2013 emphasis on teaching skills to real participants and delivering effective communication\/feedback (60 minutes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NOTE: This workshop is NOT intended to be a skills clinic for bowlers looking to upgrade their playing skills and technique.<\/p>\n<p>Saskatchewan Coaches must also complete the Respect in Sport training to be recognized as coaches in Saskatchewan: <a href=\"https:\/\/sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com\/secure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com\/secure\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Contact the Bowls Sask office for information on how to access the course at <a href=\"mailto:bowlsask@sasktel.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bowlsask@sasktel.net<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Bowls Competition Coach NCCP<\/h3>\n<h4>Purpose<\/h4>\n<p>This two-day workshop is designed for the coach who will be working with a wide range of bowlers who are competing in club tournaments and possibly playing in provincial play-down events.<\/p>\n<h4>Coach Accreditation<\/h4>\n<p>There are two statuses available for coaches: <strong>Trained<\/strong> and <strong>Certified<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRAINED<\/strong> status is achieved after successful completion of the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bowls Competition Coach Workshop,<\/li>\n<li>Multi-sport Make Ethical Decisions workshop, and<\/li>\n<li>Multi-Sport Teaching and Learning Workshop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CERTIFIED<\/strong> status is available after the coach has successfully completed the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bowls Competition Coach Portfolio,<\/li>\n<li>Formal evaluation in a bowls coaching environment, and<\/li>\n<li>CAC\u2019s online evaluation for Make Ethical Decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This two-day workshop covers the following topics as they relate to competitive club and provincial bowlers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Long-Term Athlete Development<\/li>\n<li>Performance Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Practice Planning<\/li>\n<li>Teaching and Implementing Basic Tactics and Strategy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For complete training, coaches must also take three multi-sport workshops:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make Ethical Decisions<\/li>\n<li>Teaching and Learning<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com\/secure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Respect in Sport (Saskatchewan)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Coaches access the online Making Ethical Decisions evaluation by clicking on the \u201cMy Locker\u201d tab on <a href=\"https:\/\/coach.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.coach.ca<\/a>.
