Silver and Bronze Medals for Saskatchewan Men’s Fours, Men’s Pairs and Women’s Fours at the National Lawn Bowling Major Championships in Regina, SK.

Aug 30, 2018 – 167 of Canada’s most skilled Lawn Bowlers, coaches and managers gathered at the Regina Lawn Bowling Club Aug 22-29th to take part in this year’s Canadian Majors and Single Championships. Held in the Cathedral community in Regina, the 7-day competition featured the Men’s and Women’s Four’s, Pairs and Singles events.

Saskatchewan fielded a team of 34 athletes which featured many past and present National Team Athletes including current members Jordan Kos, Michael Pituley, Grant Wilkie, Sydney Boyd and Brandon and Carter Watson. Athletes qualified from the Nutana Lawn Bowling club in Saskatoon, the Mayfair Lawn Bowling club in Saskatoon, the Moose Jaw Lawn Bowling club and the Regina Lawn Bowling club and came together to compete as Team Sask.

David Calam, Bowls Sask Team Coach was thrilled with the athlete’s personal best performances and progression, stating “Our Saskatchewan bowlers created some great scoring opportunities in some tough conditions and our men had a very strong showing winning the Cy English Team trophy. All bowlers held nothing back and gave their opponents hard games. Congratulations to them all.”

 

Highlight of this event were the silver medal awarded to our Men’s fours team of Jonathon Pituley, Michael Pituley, Grant Wilkie and Murray Pituley; the silver medal awarded to our Men’s Pairs Team of Doug Propp and Ernie Meid and the bronze medal to our Women’s Fours Team of Jean Roney, Jordon Kos, Anita Nivala and Belinda Hochban. Our men’s teams also took home the Cy English men’s aggregate points trophy.
