SASK ATHLETES secure FIVE MEDALS at Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships
SASKATCHEWAN ATHLETES secure FIVE MEDALS (2 SILVER and 3 BRONZE) at Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships
Bowls Saskatchewan Inc. is VERY excited to announce and CONGRATULATE ……
Heather Hanoski, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who secured the SILVER medal at the Women’s Singles Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Milton & Kitchener, Ontario. Heather won all 7 round robin games with 6 won in the tie breaker and the 7th won in straight sets against Quebec. This gave her a bye to the gold medal game however Heather lost to Manitoba in that final game.
Fran Allbright, from the Saskatoon Nutana Lawn Bowling Club, and Anita Nivala, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who secured the BRONZE medal at the Women’s Pairs Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Milton & Kitchener, Ontario. Fran; ‘Saskatchewan had a good week! The new format took some adjusting to this year but all players took it in stride and did their best to adapt. As usual the National Championships proved to have some top caliber players.’
Carter Watson, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, Alex Scott, from the Saskatoon Nutana Lawn Bowling Club and Dylan Jacobs (Dylan is from Ontario and sub’d in for Brandon Watson who was injured earlier at the championships), who secured the SILVER medal at the Men’s Triples Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Milton & Kitchener, Ontario.
Carter Watson, Michael Pituley, Jonathan Pituley, all from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, and Dylan Jacobs (Dylan is from Ontario and sub’d in for Brandon Watson who was injured earlier at the championship), who secured the BRONZE medal at the Men’s Fours Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Milton & Kitchener, Ontario. Alex; ‘Team Saskatchewan came back with a Men’s Triples Silver and Men’s Fours Bronze at the inaugural 5 a side Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships in Milton, Ontario. Both playoff matches were tightly contested and came down to the final bowl of a 1 end tiebreak. It was a fantastic week for our team. Congratulations to everyone for a wonderful week!’
Madeline Mohr, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who secured the BRONZE medal at the U21 Female Canadian Championship in Etobicoke, Ontario. Madeline; ‘What a terrific event and even more exciting to come home with a bronze medal. Such a great opportunity I got to be apart of. I was honoured to represent Saskatchewan as a youth athlete. Looking forward to next year.’

A wonderful finish to an exceptional week for this great group of athletes. Congratulations to those who brought home the well deserved SILVER and BRONZE medals. We are extremely proud of all our athletes and thank each of you for your contribution to Bowls Sask, our province and this great sport.
The 2024 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships took place this past week (from August 17th to 24th) across Ontario. The events were hosted at multiple clubs:
– Lawn Bowls Milton (Milton, ON) and Heritage Greens Lawn Bowling Club (Kitchener, ON) co-hosted the Majors in the first ever 5-a-side championship. 80 athletes from across the country came to battle it out in fours, triples, pairs, and singles.
– James Gardens Lawn Bowling Club (Etobicoke, ON) hosted the Under-21 Youth Championships and
– Brampton Lawn Bowling Club (Brampton, ON) welcomed the Para Championships.
– Across all events and disciplines, approximately 100 athletes from across the country competed and the 2024 champions were crowned.
