SASKATCHEWAN ATHLETE wins Full Sweep to Claim GOLD MEDAL at

Women’s Outdoor Singles Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship

Bowls Saskatchewan Inc. is VERY pleased to announce and CONGRATULATE Jordan Kos, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who took home GOLD at the Women’s Outdoor Singles Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Burlington, Ontario.

The Championship began August 21st and concluded today, August 25th. Jordan went through the entire 5-day round robin event UNDEFEATED in her pool earning a total of 15 points which secured her a place in the semi-finals that were held Thursday morning. She won that game with a score of 21-14 against Joanna Cooper of Alberta and moved to play in the Gold final later in the day. Jordan was down two points with her final two bowls but made an exceptional shot with her first ball to secure the win with a score of 21-17 over Jan Robinson of Alberta.  An extraordinary finish to an exceptional week for this young athlete to take home the well deserved GOLD MEDAL.

We are extremely proud of how Jordan represented our sport, our province and for her well earned success at this championship. Jordan adds this medal to her silver already earned last week with her team mates at the Women’s Fours Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship. This young lady will return home to Saskatchewan with two medals, a huge accomplishment and a future that looks so bright. You pave a special trail for upcoming young athletes in this great sport.

The 2022 Canadian Women’s and Men’s Outdoor Singles Canadian Championships took place at the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club from August 21-25, 2022, in Burlington, Ontario. Bowls Saskatchewan had three athletes competing in each of the men’s and women’s events.

Team Roney (Jean Roney, Jordan Kos, Heather Hanoski and Tracey McPherson), from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who secured the SILVER medal at the Women’s Fours Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Burlington, Ontario,

Team Watson (Carter Watson, Brandon Watson, Patrick Schlotter and Darrell Hanoski), also from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, who secured the BRONZE medal at the Men’s Fours Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Burlington, Ontario,

Lo Wong, from Nutana Lawn Bowling Club in Saskatoon, who received the SPIRIT AWARD presented at the close of the championships.

Team Roney went through the 5-day round robin event with a final record of 7-1-1 and in first place with total of 22 points, ahead of the next team with total of 18 points. This earned them a seat at the gold-medal final. Unfortunately, they lost in the final against Nova Scotia with a score of 18-13. A wonderful finish to an exceptional week for this great group of ladies to take home the well deserved SILVER MEDAL.

Team Watson (Sask B Team) went through the 5-day round robin event with a final record of 5-2-2 and in third place with total of 17 points, ahead of the next team with total of 16 points. This earned them a seat at the bronze-medal game where they were victors once again, securing third place against Ontario’s A team with a score of 16-14. A spectacular finish to an exceptional week for this hard working group of gentlemen to take home the BRONZE MEDAL.

  • Men’s Fours A Team – Jonathan Pituley, Michael Pituley, Grant Wilkie and Bryon McMillan from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club
  • Men’s Pairs – Alex Scott and Lo Wong from the Nutana Lawn Bowling Club in Saskatoon
  • Women’s Pairs – Janice Robson and Karen Schlotter from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club

The 2022 Canadian Women’s and Men’s Fours and Pairs Championships took place at the Burlington Lawn Bowling Club from August 15-20, 2022, in Burlington, Ontario. This week included both the Women’s and Men’s Fours as well as the Women’s and Men’s Pairs. Bowls Saskatchewan had one team in all events with exception of the Men’s Fours for which two teams were competing.

Lorrand Wong wins GOLD & SILVER at 2022 U18 Boys Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship

Bowls Saskatchewan Inc. is VERY pleased to announce and CONGRATULATE Lorrand Wong, from the Saskatoon Nutana Lawn Bowling Club, who won both GOLD and SILVER at the U18 Boys Lawn Bowling Canadian Championship in Mississauga, Ontario.

The Championship began July 31st and concluded Saturday August 6th. Lorrand went through the entire 6-day round robin event UNDEFEATED with a total of 18 points and earning himself a bye to one of the semi-final games this morning. He won 18-8 over Dekker Ly of Ontario and then moved to the gold medal game against Logan Saunderson of BC. Unfortunately Lo could not secured a full winning sweep as he lost in the final with a score of 18-13. A wonderful finish to an exceptional week for this young athlete to take home the well deserved SILVER MEDAL

Additionally, Lo received GOLD in the Forster-Lang Pairs. Lorrand (U18) was paired with Brad Roden of Alberta (U25) in the Forster-Lang Pairs, a cross-division event, that takes place simultaneously with the Youth Canadian Championship. This event has a U18 lead paired with a U25 experienced skip.

We are extremely proud of how Lorrand represented our sport, our province and for his well earned success at this championship. You pave a special trail for upcoming youth in this great sport.

A special thank you to his coach, Cam McLelland, for his assistance and support leading up to this event and while in Ontario, and to his father, Laurence Wong, who accompanied Lorrand as his chaperone.

The 2022 Canadian Youth Championships took place at the Port Credit Lawn Bowling Club from July 31 – August 6, 2022, in Mississauga, Ontario.

Lo returned to Saskatoon August 7, 2022.
