Doug joined the Regina Lawn Bowling Club Inc. in 1999, seeking a new sport to replace softball, as his diving-for-pitches days were winding down.  With his father already an active member of the club, Doug decided to give lawn bowling a “shot”.  It wasn’t long before Doug became fully immersed – not just in the game, but in the  club’s activities and leadership as well.

Doug has volunteered in many capacities at the club.  Here are just a few of Doug’s contributions:

• President of the Regina Lawn Bowling Club Inc. on 10 separate occasions.
• Vice President of the Regina Lawn Bowling Club Inc. on 4 separate occasions.
• President of Bowls Saskatchewan for 4 years.
• Vice President of Bowls Saskatchewan for 2 years.
• Past-President of Bowls Saskatchewan.
• Provincial Playdowns Draw Master.
• Bowls Sask Umpire.
• Bowls Sask Liaison.
• City of Regina Liaison.
• Club Tournaments Director.
• Trophies & Plaques Director.
• Pins Director.
• Acting Group Bookings Director.
• Grounds Director.
• Completes applications for grant funding.
• Payroll Supervisor.
• Compiled the 25 year members list.
• The beautiful flowers beds are all attributable to Doug’s green thumb.
• Chair of the Host Organizing Committee for the Canadian Youth Nationals in 2023.
• Member of the Host Organizing Committee for the Canadian Championships in 2013 and 2018.
• Member of the B Cubed, B Cubed Encore, and POBO committees.
• Two volunteer roles you won’t find on Doug’s resume are Catering Director and Housekeeping Director – he’s more than happy to leave those responsibilities to others.

It is with great pleasure that the Regina Lawn Bowling Club honour Doug Normand with the Lifetime Honorary Membership Award on September 29, 2024.  This award was presented to Doug by long-time friends and fellow members, Jean and Keith Roney on behalf of the Regina Lawn Bowling Club members.
