Jonathan Pituley receives GOLD in Men’s Pairs at the 2024 1st Canadian Bowler Open
Jonathan Pituley receives GOLD in Men’s Pairs at the 2024 1st Canadian Bowler Open (co-organized by brother Michael Pituley).
Bowls Saskatchewan ‘Congratulates’ Jonathan, from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club, for placing FIRST to capture the Gold Belt in the Men’s Pairs event at the 2024 Canadian Bowler Open. He along with his partner, Pat Bird (who is originally from Saskatoon but moved to Calgary about 20 years ago), were the FIRST men’s pairs winners as this was a new tournament introduced in 2024. Championship ‘Belts’ were presented opposed to trophies or medals. Jonathan and Pat named their team PB&J (Pat Bird and Jon) as a play on Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Organizers (and also competitors) of this event included Bowls Saskatchewan’s own Michael Pituley (president of Bowls Sask from the Regina Lawn Bowling Club) and Darryl Fitzgerald from Calgary. Beside belts being a unique prize, there was a consultation division which was named the “Treaty 7 Championship” to acknowledge the territory in which Calgary LBC is located. The medals that were presented for the Treaty 7 Championship were designed by an Aboriginal artist.
Other Saskatchewan athletes in attendance and their results are as follows:
Eileen McLelland & Heather Howard of Nutana LBC in Saskatoon – Championship Round of 16 Women’s Pairs
Michael Kowalchuk of Mayfair LBC in Saskatoon – Championship Quarterfinals Men’s Pairs
Michael O’Connor of Regina LBC – Championship Quarterfinals Men’s Pairs & Singles
Cam McLelland of Nutana LBC in Saskatoon – Championship Quarterfinals Men’s Pairs
